Supply Chain Innovations
This year's theme is: "Leveraging technology for security, resilience and optimization in Defense supply chains." The Center for Advanced Logistics Management is pleased to host this event as a part of its on-going research and education efforts. ASU is partnered with Albany Technical College. DoD relies heavily on private-sector infrastructure for its supply chains. While supply chains move materials through normal distribution channels (air, sea and land-based shipping), supply chain information travels on the Internet. Today we know that security and resiliency in information and communications infrastructures is insufficient, resulting in serious vulnerabilities for supply chains. Agencies and departments are developing policies to keep a more watchful eye on vendors, partners, and others in their cyber supply chains and adopt best practices for mitigating risks across their systems and processes to protect your system against backdoor access or other deliberate mischief.

28th Annual National Test and Evaluation Conference
The 28th Annual National Test and Evaluation Conference will focus on the proper role(s) of Test and Evaluation in our Defense System Requirements Process. Valid, measureable, realistic and achievable requirements establish the foundation for successful materiel development programs. Experiences gained through years of testing and evaluating successful and unsuccessful systems provide the T&E community with a unique perspective on what constitutes valid, measureable (i.e. testable), realistic and achievable requirements. The Honorable Dr. Michael Gilmore, Director, Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E), in a memorandum for DOT&E staff, established four major initiatives including an initiative for the T&E community to “engage early to improve requirements.” Specifically, he directs DOT&E staff members and the greater T&E community to “…work to assure that systems have realistic, relevant and testable requirements and identify to DOT&E leadership for action those programs that don’t.”

ISR 2012
As a part of our European defence portfolio which includes Global MilSatCom, Military Airlift and Unmanned Aircraft Systems, ISR 2012 will continue the tradition of establishing exceptional defence conferences for the community. Chaired by Major General Ken Israel, topics that will be addressed at the 2012 conference include unmanned ISR; persistent ISR; COMINT and SIGINT; ISR interoperability between the Air, Land and Maritime domains; and future ISR technology. If you are part of a joint or allied force, the responsible and fluid sharing of ISR can make the difference between mission success and failure. Overcoming the challenges presented by information sharing therefore must be considered as central to the security of our forces and each opportunity to discern best practice taken with aplomb.

National Laboratories Information Technology (NLIT) Summit
The 2012 NLIT Summit brings together colleagues from across the US Department of Energy (DOE) complex to facilitate an exchange of information management (IM) best practices, strategy and methodology. The 2012 NLIT Summit will consist of presentations, panel discussions, new equipment and technology demonstrations, and information sharing on topics applicable to all DOE National Laboratories. Presentations will be provided by the numerous DOE Laboratories and Industry Sponsors. This information exchange helps strengthen the IM and provides cost efficiencies across the DOE National Laboratories by preventing the reinvention of solutions to similar problems. Sharing of new technologies across multiple IM disciplines fosters relationships that will be key in future research and application development. The success of the DOE mission relies on the ability to conduct research, share data, and collaborate with personnel from other laboratories.

Cyber Defense 2012
This year we will be focusing on the continuing and future key cyber defence challenges and opportunities for the armed forces and security services. With military cyber systems having far greater integration and with constant interaction through the world wide web, the potential security dangers are apparent. The need to ensure security from organised nation state sponsored intrusion and opportunistic hackers mean the continued development and updating of multi-layered and sophisticated systems. But it is not only improving defensive systems, but how do you strengthen cyber forces capabilities, to turn cyber defense prevention, into preemption? So do not miss the opportunity to network with a fantastic array of international speakers from the cyber defence arena.

17th ICCRTS
The theme for the 17th International Command and Control Research and Technology Symposium is “Operationalizing C2 Agility.” Since the first ICCRTS in 1995, the complexity and dynamics of the international environment and the threats to national security have significantly increased. This trend has been exacerbated by the adoption of communications and information technologies that have created a highly inter-connected world and net-enabled organizations. As a result, we increasingly face the unexpected, unanticipated, and unfamiliar. Agility, long a desirable quality to have, has become an imperative. The most recent CCRP publication, The Agility Advantage, provides the theory of C2 Agility. This year’s symposium will review the need for agility from various perspectives and explore efforts to improve the agility of our C2 organizations, processes, and systems. Questions, such as How would C2 be approached differently for conventional warfare and COIN?, What are the implications for supporting systems?, and How can we demonstrate through simulations and fields trials the value of C2 Agility?, will be explored in plenary presentations and panels as well as in track discussion periods.

Supply Chain Cyber Risk Forum
This symposium addresses the following questions:
-What policy and legislation approaches are best in addressing this problem?
-What are new policies and models for trusting suppliers, their supply chains and systems? Are current policies and those under consideration regarding suppliers and counterfeiting really going to be effective?
Self-regulation vs government mandates – which is the more effective method?
-Do stringent requirements endanger fragile industries?
-Do half-measures provide inadequate protections?
-What are the unintended consequences of physical and cyber intersections for supply chains?
-How are real issues in this space defined and differentiated from non-issues?
