Physical Security Concepts: Defense in Depth (DiD) Course
This course presents the basic concepts that support physical security of IT resources. It defines physical security and explains why it is required. It presents three security models and discusses the need for transition strategies between security zones. It describes seven physical access control areas: physical access, fire safety, supporting utilities, plumbing, structural collapse, interception of data, and mobile and portable systems. Physical security strategies are discussed and methods are presented for creating a secure environment, guarding equipment, rebuffing theft, safeguarding portable resources, regulating power supplies, and protecting output. Numerous activities are included to engage the students and encourage participation.
